The Importance Of Old Building Codes.

Construction methods and materials have changed dramatically since the first building code was adopted in 1927.  If you know when a building was constructed you can look at the building code in effect at the time of construction and identify the current strengths and weaknesses.   This helps a contractor focus resources on the weakest part of the building and avoid wasting resources on strengthening connections that are already strong enough.
