I have a cripple wall at the back of the house which is 16ft long by 6ft tall. I have had two different opinions. One says put the panels horizontally with blocking added where the top panels joins the bottom panels. The other says use the plywood vertically. Vertically certainly looks attractive.
What do you think? Will it work the same?

Thanks,

Jeannette

Vertically will work out better for you.  The American Plywood Association recognizes both configurations as having equal strength.  Vertically is a lot easier to install.  Be sure and sister nail a stud at each seam with 10d commons 3-4 inches on center staggered so that each plywood edge has a full 2 by 4 to nail to.
