I live down in West LA and I have a house on a 23% grade that i'm going to be bolting. I'm using the RedHead 1/2 anchors and they need about 3 inches edge clearance. since the basement was converted to a living area way back when there's a bottom plate on top of the muddsill to give the drywall something to nail too. how do I maintain the edge clearance? do I notch the bottom plates so I can have the square plate washer resting on the mudsill?

You have a double mudsill which can be very problematic. I don't see how readheads are gong to help you. Just make sure the two mudsills are connected togehter with nails or plywood or any other type of hardware, then you can bolt to either sill and be OK.
Thanks. Is this pretty much the only thing I can do with a hillside home myself? Just graduated from college and with the economy the way it is its gonna be awhile before I can afford to get an engineer out you know what I mean.
