I read on one of the posts that you guys use the H10 & H10R.  My floor joists are approximately 2.25" x 9.25" so the H10's will not work since they are their width is 1 9/16".  Apparently, the H11Z is not too common and the local suppliers in San Jose (Home Depot, Lowes, Southern Lumber, Peninsula Building Materials and Economy Lumber) do not sell this part.  I wanted to know if anyone has used the H11Z and where to get it.  I would love to order it online from Simpson directly but I don't think they will allow it and the local shops have a minimum quantity to purchase.  I just want to buy a couple initially to see if they work and are not too wide for 2.25"  joists. There maybe a 5/16" gap between H11Z width and the floor joist width.  Below is photo of the H11Z for reference.  Thank in Advance, VC

Hello Forum,

I'm just checking back to see if anyone has any comments regarding my post a couple of weeks ago on the Simpson H11Z.

Thanks in advance, VC

Looks like you have an oddball size.  I would look and see if the joists are well toenailed into upper top plate.  The old toe nails were quite large and have a capacity of approximately 200 pounds each.  If your joists have a nail on each side, or even one nail on both sides of the joists, I would forget about it.  The blocking will also have some nails.  This connection is not a big concern. If you still want to reinforce this connection, use tight fitting 3/4 inch plywoood blocks.
