Hello,

I have a small section of sill plate which is cracked. The plate is about 3 feet long. It's on a part of the house where the ground slopes down and the sill plates are divided in sections. I need to put 2 screws in this plate. I know probably should have it replaced but that looks like a lot of work and a big expense. I was thinking of putting a longer screw through the blocking instead of only through the plate. We are going to staple the blocks so I would do that and then bolt right through the block.
What do you think?

Just don't put the bolts or staples near the crack.
